TENTH ANNIVERSARY SPONSORED BIKE RIDE (29/05/2011)
On Sunday 29th May, Peter Vokes, the Club Secretary and Welfare Officer completed an 87 mile bike ride to raise money for the Pavilion Fund and Reepham Patient Care. The route took in all eight villages which made up the teams in Reepham & Salle's first ever season of league cricket back in 2001. You can read Peter's blog and see the evidence by clicking here.
FLYING START TO THE 2011 SEASON (15/05/2011)
The Saturday XI have streaked into the top spot in Norfolk League Division 7 after three wins from three games, all emphatic victories. Not to be out-done, the youth team opened their account with a 4 run win over Halvergate in the Broadland League. The Sunday XI, not to be out-done, also put together three wins in their first three games to start their 2011 Division 3 campaign. Records are starting to tumble as well with the record for the highest winning margin (batting first) being broken by the Saturday team against Acle, a match which they won by a massive 217 runs. The previous record of 193 had stood since 2002, which was the Club's very first season in league cricket.
FUND RAISING STARTS FOR PAVILION (26/12/2010)
The club held a successful quiz in October, which saw almost £400 go into the coffers to kick of the fundraising for a new pavillion at the Salle ground. This was followed up by a sponsored Boxing Day swim in the North Sea by three club members, Paul Harwood (sporting a Borat Mankini) and son Simon, along with George Wright.

Future fund raising events to look out for in the year ahead are:
A sponsored 80 mile cycle to cellebrate the tenth year of league cricket for the club. The ride will start in Hingham and finish in Sheringham, taking in all the home grounds of the clubs that Reepham & Salle played in their first ever league season back in 2001. There will also be a Race Night at Stimpson's Piece Pavilion during the summer.
Keep an eye on this page for further details of these events...
REEPHAM & SALLE ARE DIVISION 8 CHAMPIONS! (31/08/2010)
Despite not actually playing in the last match of the 2010 season (due to a waterlogged Hemsby pitch) Reepham & Salle leapt from second to first place in division eight. Gillingham, who were in top spot at the start of the day managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and dropped to fourth, courtesy losing to Hingham combined with Bunwell's slightly lucky 21 points (as Blundeston forfeited their match) resulting in them snatching the second promotion place. In addtion to the club taking the Division 8 trophy, Paul Minns took the Batsman of the Season award.

KENNEDY'S MAGICAL MONTH
Words by Milton Lindsay
Norwich Bystanders' Ian Kennedy averaged an incredible 318.00 during his four innings in July - and not surprisingly he has been named as the Lucas Fettes Norfolk League's Player of the Month.
Kennedy passed 50 in each of his four visits to the crease last month, rounding it off nicely with an unbeaten century against Happisburgh on July 24. He also hit 56no against Cringleford Lodge and 93no against Aylsham St Giles and the only team to dismiss him was Civil Service - but even then he had already scored 62.
Speaking about this run of good form that has propelled Norwich Bystanders into the top three of Division Two, Kennedy said: “I just hit a 'purple patch'. I had been batting reasonably well in the first half of the season but I think that I have managed to apply myself more recently.
“It has also helped that the outfields have been lightning quick - you really get value for your shots. I am very pleased to receive this award, and it is great to be recognised by my team-mates through their nomination.”
Other nominees included: Paul Minns (Reepham & Salle), Rajiv Choudhary (Reepham & Salle), Stephen Alger (Rollesby), Chris Alger (Rollesby), Bruno Norman (Watton), Michael Barker (Eaton), Liam Boylan (Hemsby) and Julian Dismore (Felthorpe A).
Winning the Young Player of the Month award was 14-year-old Simon Harwood of Reepham & Salle.
Playing in Division Eight, opening batsman Harwood scored his maiden senior century, hitting 109 not out against Hales Colts, and over the month scored 167 runs at an average of 41.75.
When asked about this landmark achievement, Harwood said: “I had a steady flow of 50s over the first half of the season and several opening partnerships over 100, but I really wanted to beat my Dad's highest score of 106!
“I am delighted to be receiving this award, and I must pay tribute to the hard work of our groundsmen (Joe Hollis, Martin Clapton and Eddie Holl) for producing such fantastic wickets. Hopefully I can continue to score runs and help secure promotion to Division Seven for next year.”
Presenting both awards on behalf of the sponsors, Lucas Fettes and Partners director Mark Brown said: “It is fantastic to see both awards going to clubs new to the league, with Reepham & Salle playing their first season of Saturday league cricket, and Norwich Bystanders having reformed from what was previously Norwich Union Cricket Club.
“It is also very pleasing to see a variety of clubs being represented as this shows the strength in depth of the league.”
Saturday Side One Match Away From Promotion (21/08/2010)
This Saturday's defeat of Bunwell allowed Reepham and Salle to clinb into second place in Division 8, just 0.2 points behind first place Gillingham. Victory in the last game of the season next week, away at Hemsby A should secure a place in Division 7 for next year.
Tribute To Reepham & Salle's Sportsmanship (31/07/2010)
Hales Colts lost to Reepham and Salle by 160 runs, but were well treated by a very sporting Reepham side who showed you can get maximum points, yet still give young players consideration. Hales won the toss and asked Reepham to bat. They made a lively start before Liam Jones dismissed Leggoe courtesy of a smart caught behind by James Kershaw. Jones struck again with a caught and bowled, but Reepham continued to score well. There were wickets for Isaac Rolph, Ryan Claxton, Joe Durrant (after an outstanding catch from Jones) and Sam Ford, before a sporting declaration came at 235 for 6 in the 33rd over. S Harwood scored a superb century, with fortune on his side as Dye dropped him on 98, this would have been harsh as the young opening bat, played superbly throughout his innings. In reply, after Kershaw went early, Ryan Claxton (11) and Joe Durrant (13) added 31 for the second wicket. Justin Rolph made a solid 8 not out, as Hales reached 75 in 29 overs. The Tea was outstanding, as was the way the Reepham players respected and encouraged the young Hales team and a very well deserved 10 for Fair play was awarded.

Saturday Team Catching Up Fast (31/07/2010)
A second win in two weeks sees the Saturday side just 0.27 points behind Gillingham who occupy the last promotion berth in division eight. With four matches remaining, two of which being against top four opposition and a recent good run of form a promotion place is a sound prospect. With younsters Simon Harwood, George Wright, Tom Harris and Tamas Ward looking as good as ever with bat and ball, added to by the experience of Minns, Tipple and Choudhary the team is becoming a stronger force all the time; remarkable considering it is Reepham and Salle's debut in the Norfolk League.
AWARD-WINNING SKIPPER TARGETS PROMOTION TREBLE
Words by Milton Lindsay
One of the Norfolk League's youngest captains is setting his sights on a promotion hat-trick.
George Hudson, who is in his third season at the Hemsby helm, has steered the team into the Division Five promotion running.
And the 20-year-old son of club chairman Richard Hudson is certainly leading by example.
For George's exploits during June have earned the league's latest player of the month award after scoring 263 runs (at an average of 67.75), including a top score of 114 against Sprowston C.
George said: “Our continued success this season is based mainly on togetherness and hard work, and several of the guys have returned really good figures. Brett Colclough and Liam Boylan have been getting plenty of runs and Liam has also taken a lot of wickets, but I am proud - if a little shocked to receive this award… it's brilliant!”
Presenting the award, Mark Brown (director, Lucas Fettes & Partners), said: “George's scoring for the month is very impressive, particularly as he also has the substantial responsibilities of captaining the side on his shoulders as well.”
Other notable candidates for the award included: David Bellchamber, St Andrews - Division One: 182 runs in four innings (including two fifties) without being dismissed! Paul Minns, Reepham & Salle - Division Eight: 240 runs at 60.00 including three century opening partnerships. Kevin Stagles, Shipdham - Division One: 255 runs at 127.50, including two centuries. George Carney, St Andrews - Division One: eight wickets at 19.10 including 12-4-27-5 v Happisburgh. Joe Hollis, Reepham & Salle - Division Eight: nine wickets @ 8.56 and 144 runs @ 144.00, including 84 vs Hemsby A and 5 for 9 v Hardingham B.
Josh Downes of Hardingham CC won the Junior Player of the Month Award with a phenomenal average of 209. Josh, 17, accumulated 209 runs in three innings for Hardingham A in Division Six. He scored 76 against Rollesby A, 75 not out against Horsford C and 58 not out against Ketteringham Hall A.
Josh, who is in his first Saturday league season with the club, said: “Getting promoted to Division Five is our main aim for this season and our skipper Martin Lawes would be delighted if we achieved this without losing a game all season.”
He added: “I have played for Hardingham on Sundays for about three years and have grown up with a lot of the guys here so it seemed natural to start playing my league cricket here as well having been with Old Buckenham before.”
Mark Brown said: “Josh put in three excellent performances in June, clearly taking advantage of the fine weather, with two not outs as well. As sponsors of the Norfolk Cricket League it is good to see young players performing consistently well.” Another notable candidate for this award was 14 year-old Simon Harwood of Reepham & Salle, playing in Division Eight. In four matches through June Simon scored 203 runs at an average of 67.60, including three scores of 50 or more (top score of 77 v Bunwell) and also forming part of three century opening partnerships.
Rather Depressing Win (03/07/2010)
A grest victory of Martham A was rather spoilt by the antics of the visiting side. However, the result does see Reepham and Salle climb up to second in the table. Read the Club President's report here.
Records Tumble Again! (26/06/2010)
The Saturday side managed to smash the previous record for the highest scoring Reepham and Salle innings by 73 runs, the record only having been set a week before! The record total of 359-8 was set against a strong Hemsby side who sat at the top of the table before the game, which needless to say resulted in a comfortable118 run win for Reepham. The outcome sees Hemsby knocked off top spot and Reepham and Salle strengthen their challenge for promotion.

Records Tumble (20/06/2010)
The Sunday team managed to smash three club records in one match this Sunday (20th June) whilst being entertained by near neighbours Swanton Morley. The first record to fall was the highest individual total, this as a result of David Henry scoring a mighty 172 runs, 34 runs more than the previous record he set in 2006. The next record to go was unsurprisingly for the highest partnership of 173 set by Henry and Paul Minns in 2009; this time the same pair producing a double-century second wicket partnership of 207. Finally the highest ever Reepham and Salle total was scored in this match, with 284 runs coming in the 40 overs, beating the previous 277 scored in 2008 against Denver.
Needless to say Reepham and Salle beat Bunwell by a healthy 112 runs, but more importantly it hopefully marks a turning point in the fortunes of the Sunday side.
Saturday Side Smash Bunwell (19/06/2010)
Second place Bunwell were given a reminder of how strong Reepham and Sale's Saturday team can be when everyone is firing on all cylinders. The new highest ever total by a Reepham side (283-3) was posted, only to be beaten by the Sunday side the next day! Bunwell were never up to the job, especially when teenager George Wright took the ball and proceeded to take 5 for 16 off just six overs. The visitors put up a good fight, but were all out 69 runs behind, criminally having 13 full unused overs to left.
This result should see Reepham climb back up into the promotion zone in the division eight table after a disappointing outcome last week at Blundeston.
Veteran Star Helps Stealers Beat Bacton (13/06/2010)

After starting the season with a defeat at the hands of Cringleford Lodge, Reepham & Salle's veteran side got back to winning ways with a convincing five wicket win at Bacton.
Richard "Omar" Saunders did the damage with the ball taking 3 wickets for one run in an impressive three over spell, which included two superlative catches off his own bowling. Old stalwart Peter Vokes (32) and new boy Jimbo Riley (19*) led the run chase bringing the Stealers home with the best part of 18 overs to spare.
